What's included

Standard and Epic course riders head west straight away, making their way up the iconic landscape of the Wittenham Clumps, with stunning panoramic views of south Oxfordshire, before crossing the River Thames and winding out through small villages on quiet roads. From Woolstone to Wantage, the Standard and Epic routes wind along and across the Ridgeway – Britain’s oldest road – which has been used by both ancient and modern traffic for more than 5,000 years. At the village of Uffington, riders are rewarded with a spectacular view of the mystical White Horse chalk remains. While the short route passes through Wallingford, the best surviving Saxon Fortified town in England, all routes head towards Watlington, an area standing between the Vale of Oxford and the steep slopes of the Chilterns, Epic riders head towards the chalk grassland of Aston Rowant Nature Reserve before looping back below the traditional market town of Thame. All routes rejoin and head back towards Oxford passing Chalgrove Airfield, next to a civil war battle site. With rolling quiet roads, and superb views across areas steeped in history, the Ridgeway Rouleur presents an ideal sportive to take in the very best areas of Oxfordshire while giving your all on the mixed terrain in the area.Course MarkingsOnce you set off from the event centre the route will be marked with the use of arrow signs and marker ribbons. Arrow signs will be at all junctions on the route. At certain points on the ride the routes will divide into the various, short, standard and epic routes. These route splits will be signposted – simply follow the signs for the particular route you have entered.Although the routes are marked, we recommend that you keep an eye on your map. Although unlikely, it's entirely possible for riders to miss turnings or for members of the public to interfere with signs.Checkpoints & drink stationsDependent on the length of the route you have entered there will be 1-3 checkpoint / feed stations. These are indicated on your event day map and are wel signposted along the route.Check Points are also an opportunity take on board some energy drink / food. This should supplement the food and drink you've taken on the ride, and you should not solely rely on this as your only form of nutrition. At the finishWhen you complete your ride your time will be captured and displayed on our website after the event. This usually happens on the same evening of the event. At the finish line, make sure your finish time is recorded by a member of the UK Cycling Events team.
