Bristol Half Marathon

The Bristol Half Marathon is an annual road running event held on the streets of Bristol, UK. The route is at sea level and winds through the city centre, along the Avon Gorge and under the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The most recent addition to the Great Run Series, the Great Bristol Half Marathon comes with its own distinguished history. First staged in 1989 and known as the Bristol Half Marathon, the city centre run has become a long-held tradition in the national running calendar. Over 10,000 runners every year make this a must do event with an atmosphere second to none. We also have a brand new Great Bristol 10k taking place on Sunday 15 May. The course is a point-to-point loop, so lead runners will not lap slower participants. The Portway section at the beginning of the course spreads runners out early in the race. A narrow Start area and the 2 wave start are also designed to reduce congestion. The route is at sea level and starts on Anchor Road outside At-Bristol. Participants make their way toward Hotwells before heading under the Clifton Suspension Bridge and along the Portway toward Sea Mills before returning the same way then navigating around Cumberland Basin then along Spike Island before crossing Prince Street Bridge, circling Queen Square then heading to Castle Park via St Mary Redcliffe and Temple Circus. The final mile and a half take place in the Old City and Bristol city centre before crossing the finish line back at Anchor Road.

The race will start and finish in Bristol's historic Harbourside. The scenic, sea-level route will take runners past the Harbourside, out and back along the Portway, through the stunning Avon Gorge, and pass twice under Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, along Cumberland Road then around the old city before returning to Anchor Road.
