Bucharest Marathon

The Bucharest International Marathon is an annual marathon and sport event hosted by the city of Bucharest, Romania since 2008. It is usually held at the beginning of October. Asociatia Bucharest Running Club, in cooperation with the Romanian Athletic Federation organizes the event. The event consists of competitive races (Team Relay, Half Marathon and Marathon) and noncompetitive races (Children Run and Fun Run). The course is certified by AIMS and IAAF. The time limit for the Half Marathon is 3h while for the Marathon is 6h. Bucharest Half Marathon gathers over 15 000 participants from over 50 countries. Start and finish line are in the same place, in front of theParliament Palace (former Ceausescu Palace) - the biggest building in Europe and the second biggest in the world. All runners receive adidas running T-shirts.

Start - Constitution Square on Libertăţii Blvd. towards George Coşbuc Square. Back to Constitution Square on the same way, turn right on Unirii Bvd. to Unirii Square. Cross Brătianu Bvd., go on Unirii Bvd. to Alba Iulia Square. Turn left on Decebal Blvd. to Muncii (Hurmuzachi) Square, cross Mihai Bravu Bvd., go on Basarabia Bvd. untill Chişinău Bvd. Return on Basarabia Blvd. to National Arena, turn right and enter the National Arena Park, one lap around the Arena. Reenter Basarabia Blvd. turn right to Muncii Square, go on Decebal Bvd. to Alba Iulia Square. Turn right on Unirii Blvd., pass Unirii Sq. to Constitution Sq. Turn right on Libertăţii Blvd. and back to Unirii Sq. via Naţiunile Unite (United Nations) Blvd. and Splaiul Independenţei. Back on the other side of Dâmboviţa River to Victoriei Bridge, intersection Splaiul Independentei with Calea Victoriei. Continue on Calea Victoriei untill Odeon Theater/ Majestic Hotel. Turn back on Calea Victoriei and run till intersection with Splaiul Independentei. Reenter Splaiul Independenţei till Ştirbei Vodă St, Eroilor Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the Dâmboviţa River returning to the start / finish area via Libertăţii Blvd. (km 21 / 42).

The course will take direction to the beautiful commercial area of Calea Victoriei with an out/back part of the course. Then there will be a part along the Dambovita River, after a turn back runners will then run along one side of the Parliament House to reach again the finish area.
