2020 Canoe Sprint Non-Olympic Events World Championships

Overview
The 2020 Olympic Boat nomination in each event will be selected from within the top three finishers at the 2019 senior team selection series (including any medallists from the 2018 Senior World Championships). In order to be considered for selection to the 2020 Olympic team, the first filter subject to achieving performance standards will be to finish inside the top three in the overall selection series points table as laid out in the 2019 Great Britain Senior team selection policy. Once selected, the 2019 Great Britain Senior Team will also become the 2020 Olympic Squad. Note that a boat(s) pre-selected to the 2019 senior team on the basis of being a 2018 Senior World Championship medallist will race the selection series for points and are guaranteed a top 3 place.
Course details
An Individual can earn the right through elite medal winning championship performances at the 2019 World Championships to be nominated for the Team GB place at the Tokyo Olympic Games only under the following circumstances: An athlete winning a 2019 individual Senior World Championship medal will be eligible for pre-qualification to the 2020 Senior & Olympic team if the next best placed British boat at the 2019 Senior World Championships in the same category finished outside of the top 6 (inside top 6 defined as finishing in places 1-6 inclusive) in the final results. This is the opportunity to be pre-selected into the Olympic Team on the basis of winning a medal at the 2019 World Championships and demonstrating a sufficient gap in performance over the next best British boat. The reason for offering pre-selection is to allow a pre-selected athlete to fully prioritise preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
