The Cannonball Marathon is having its annual run! We still have an awesome half marathon plus Natty Greene’s beer, great food, live music, a cool medal, and a great 5k course. It is a challenging course, but one of the most beautiful in North Carolina. The race is a certified BOSTON MARATHON QUALIFIER (certificate number NC16019BDS), and is the only marathon in the Triad. We are happy and excited to support the Humane Society of the Piedmont as our charity partner for the Cannonball. When you register, add a little to help the kitties and puppies! You got this. Run 26.2 or 13.1!
Country Park is the host venue and I’m not going to lie it has a few hills. The course is an out and back that crosses beautiful Lake Brandt. You will have views of Lake Brandt and much of the course is a closed greenway. The leaves are just beginning to turn in October so you won’t find a better backdrop.Runners will follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes in Greensboro Country Park, which plays host to running and cycling events nearly year-round.The race starts on the park roads just south of the two lakes in the center of Country Park, and then heads out onto Orman Road and Lawndale Drive, the start of a long out-and-back stretch that winds through the residential neighborhoods near Lake Brandt.Runners follow the course all through these neighborhoods — with turns on Regents Park Lane, Lake Brandt Road and Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway — and then follow a bridge that crosses over the lake toward Bur Mil Park and the lake’s shoreline.
The serene, peaceful, tree-lined roads that wind through Greensboro Country Park serve as the first couple and last couple of miles.
All Finishers will receive a custom race medal.
This race will be chip timed with disposable bib-chips, We ask all athletes to wear their race number on the front and visible.
The marathon has a time limit of 7 hours.
