Overview

Cheerful, brightly painted Clonakilty is a bustling market town which serves as a hub for the scores of beguiling little coastal villages that surround it. You'll find smart B&Bs, good restaurants and cosy pubs alive with music. Little waterways coursing through town add to the charm. Clonakilty is famous for two things: it's the birthplace of Irish Free State commander-in-chief Michael Collins, embodied in a large statue on the corner of Emmet Sq; and it's the home of the most famous black pudding in the country. With that being said, the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon is the place to be!!WELCOME ! This race is all about fun and yes, there are gentle hills..  It is a stunning testing course with ocean views, get a PB in Clonakilty and you can proudly say you earned it ! Runners find they are in peak condition at the end of the running season and PB is achieved along with cool weather & great support. This end of season race in the award winning friendly town of Clonakilty is set for early December. There is plenty to do for all the family and an ideal time to do some Christmas shopping. Start time is planned for 9 am from The Quality hotel. Each year we design unique cast medals acknowledging inspirational people and their achievements in their fields.Look forward to see you back home in West Cork,Ireland ! :
