It's on again! Enter The Geelong Half Marathon now and make your mark. Enjoy a wonderful, scenic course along the banks of the beautiful Barwon River in Geelong. With a great community atmosphere, easy parking and minimal queues, this has to be the best-value run around.
Course details
Race Pack: For entries up to Sunday 31st March, 2019: Your bib, and an event information brochure (including a course map), will be posted to you. This will have everything you need and you will not need to check in to our Information tent before start time. For entries after Sunday 31st March, 2019: We will not post your event pack. Late entry bib collection is on Saturday 13th April (the day before the event) from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Geelong Cross Country Clubrooms. These are under the James Harrison Bridge, on the south side of Barwon River, in Belmont, Geelong. Melways reference Map 451, K8. If it is impossible for you to get to late entry bib collection on Saturday 13th, we will have your bib at the Information tent for collection on race morning. Water, fruit and lollies, plus a FREE sausage sizzle for runners
What's included
The Geelong Half Marathon is run along the beautiful Barwon River,from Belmont, to Breakwater and then up to Fyansford and back to Belmont.The 7 km event covers the first 2km of the Half Marathon course and then 5km of the main river section traversing Moorabool St. bridge and Shannon Ave. bridge.The Geelong Half Marathon and the 7 km Run both start under the James Harrison Bridge, on the south side of Barwon River.Melways reference Map 451, K8.Both events now finish under the Moorabool Street Bridge, near to the start.For both events, there will be an arch, timing mats and hydration at the start and finish, as well as along the course.
Geelong Half Marathon: 7.30 amParticipants are encouraged to arrive by at least 6.45 am, 45 minutes prior to the event start, to ensure there is plenty of time to get organised and warm up. There will be a compulsory race briefing at 7:15am7 km Run: 8.00 am.Participants are encouraged to arrive by at least 7.15 am. There will be a compulsory race briefing at 7.45 am.

What Weather Can I Expect For The Event?The average daily temperatures for Geelong during April are: min. 11°C, max. 22°C. However, our weather is quite variable in April and both cold and hot weather are quite possible. Make sure you check out the forecast close to the event, dress appropriately, be sun smart and, should the weather be unseasonably hot, remember to hydrate!What Should I Wear?Comfortable running gear appropriate for the weather, and shoes suited for running on asphalt paths are highly recommended. We suggest that you wear clothing and shoes that you’ve trained in, so you are confident that they won’t cause any problems.Can I Use My iPod/MP3 Player On Course?We can’t endorse the use of such devices. Aside from it being a bit unsafe, as it is harder to hear other runners or marshals.Can I Bring My Pet To Run/Walk With Me?For safety reasons, animals aren’t permitted as part of the race.Can I Ride My Bike Alongside A Friend Who Is Running?No. For safety reasons, bikes, skateboards and rollerblades are not permitted on the course.How Fit Do I Need To Be To Run a Half Marathon?It is essential to train before such an event to ensure that you are physically and mentally prepared for the challenge of a half marathon. It is your personal responsibility to ensure you have completed adequate training. If you have any concerns about the adequacy of your preparation or your capacity to complete this event, it is recommended that you consult your doctor before participating. If you are unwell prior to the event you should not participate.If you are unwell during the event you should immediately withdraw and promptly notify an official that you require medical attention.How Fit Do I Need To Be To Run a Half Marathon?It is essential to train before such an event to ensure that you are physically and mentally prepared for the challenge of a half marathon.
