We host a senior race, a Junior Golden Mile, plus a wheelchair event for both classified and unclassified athletes. And, if you've enough energy left, why not try your luck in the Gosport Golden 5k that follows the Golden Mile? The 5km race is a popular addition to the Hampshire running calendar, a fast and flat, out and back dash along the promenade. There are plenty of prizes up for grabs, including cash prizes for the winners of the Golden Mile.
The Gosport Golden Mile and the Junior Golden Mile start from a point close to the Inshore Lifeboat Station, Lifeboat Lane, Stokes Bay PO12 2TR. The route covers a measured 1 mile route finishing – obviously – a mile away from the start, close to The Bayside Cabin Café.The Gosport 5k will start from a point close to the Bayside Cabin Café and cover an out and back route along the promenade, onto a country path around Fort Gilkicker before returning to the start. A very short section of the route is on a shingle pathway, but this is only a few metres. There will be drinks stations at the start and finish of both races, plus 5k runners will be able to take advantage of the one mile start line drinks stations, ensuring there is water available at 1 and 2 miles.
Race HQ: adjacent to the Bayside Cabin Café, Stokes Bay Road, Gosport PO12 2QT.There is plenty of car parking available along the seafront, but please pay attention to any parking restrictions and remember to pay the appropriate rate where applicable. The closest railway station is Portsmouth Harbour and the promenade is served by local buses.
