Clean-cut Indy is the state capital and a perfectly pleasant place to ogle racecars and take a spin around the renowned speedway. The art museum and White River State Park have their merits, as do the Mass Ave and Broad Ripple 'hoods for eating and drinking. And Kurt Vonnegut fans are in for a treat. A swell trail connects it all.With that being said, the Indianapolis Half Marathon!!Join us early October for the the Annual Indianapolis Half Marathon. Taking place in historic Fort Harrison State Park, your hometown half is a gorgeous fall tour through the park and surrounding neighborhoods.

The Indianapolis Half Marathon course starts with a loop through historic Fort Benjamin Harrison along the tree-lined Fort Parade Grounds. The course then heads North for a loop through Fort Harrison State Park and then returns to the finish line.

All participants should plan to arrive and be parked at the race site by 7:30 AM. Please plan your arrival accordingly and allow extra time. Roads will begin closing after 7:30 AM. All RACE DAY event parking is FREE and will be in the enormous Major General Emmett J. Bean Center Parking Lot which is on the Southwest Corner of 56th Street and Post Road. This is about a 3 to 7 block walk to the race site. From the Bean Center Parking Lot, proceed to walk North, crossing 56th Street, to get to the race site.

Gear Check will be available starting at 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday morning before the race just South of the Start/Finish line at the west end of the large food tent. Checked gear bags will be available for pickup after the race at the same location. Bags and markers will be provided for your use. You need to write your race number on the outside of your gear bag. You must have your Race Bib to pick up your bag. Do not put valuables in your gear bag! Please do not give your items to any volunteer except those at Gear Bag Check. Any unclaimed items will be donated to a charity.

For the half marathon, water stops are located at miles 2, 4, 5.5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and finish. For the 5K there is one water stop around 1.5 miles.

The half marathon requires a minimum age of 10 years old.

ALL Finishers in the Half, 5K will receive a finisher's medal.

The Half Marathon course will remain open and supported for all participants maintaining a pace of 17 minutes per mile. In addition, there will also be an 8 minute "grace period" to allow everyone this extra time to get across the starting line. This works out to a finishing time limit of 3 hours 51 minutes. To ensure the safety of all participants, any participant not maintaining this pace will be asked to retire from the event and be taken back to the race site on an event vehicle.
