What's included
The marathon starts in Emmersdorf at 10 a.m. at the same time than the halfmarathon gets started in Sptiz. The marathon route goes upstream from Emmerdorf on the B3 until the small village of Weitenegg, where the runners will get to the road next to the beautiful danube and turn downstream back to the starting point in Emmersdorf. From there on the route follows the B3 until reaching Krems. In Krems you won't have to run through the city any more which makes the marathon both: more attractive and faster

Working with our partners we are able to set up 11 Hydration/Energy Stations along the entire marathon route. During the marathon you can refill your energy reserves at KM5 / KM9.8 / KM13.5 / KM 18.1 / KM21.2 / KM23.2 / KM26.8 / KM30.6 / KM33.1 / KM37.5 / KM40.3.
Each runner finishing the race will be given a WACHAUmarathon finisher madal upon crossing the finish line. Get your much sought-after WACHAUmarathon medal in recognition of your achievement.
For this reason the WACHAUmarathon team works hard every year to provide the ideal availability of liquids and food along the route. Coca Cola provides Coca cola and the electrolyte and carbohydrate drink Powerade at the hydration stations. Isotar provides the necessary carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals with Isoatar High Energy bar and Isotar High Energy Gel Lemon (primarily for marathon runners, available at some points on the half marathon stretch). The tables are in the same order at every station: self-catering, water, powerade, Coca-Cola, followed by Isotar Evergy Bars, bananas and Isotar High Energy Gel (optional) and then another table with water.
