Macclesfield (MACC) Half Marathon
22 September 2019
A challenging and rewarding route through the leafy back roads of East Cheshire. Click the above map to download a copy of the Macc Half Marathon route. As the roads are not closed and due to the relatively steep gradients, the course is not suitable for self-propelled wheelchairs.
There will be free race car parking at a number of locations. Please follow marshals instructions as the area will be very busy before the race, and allow at least 10 minutes to park and get to the start area. Please car-share if possible to help with parking spaces and reduce congestion.
There will be a secure area for bags inside Leisure Centre Sports Hall.
Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult during the Fun Run. There is no upper age limit! The Fun Run will start on the track straight after the 5k. The course will be about 1200m and will be entirely in the grounds of the athletics track. To enter the Half Marathon, competitors must be aged 17 or over on the day of the race. To enter the 5k, competitors must be aged 11 or over on the day of the race.
Anyone taking part in the half marathon who does not reach the 3 mile point in less than 40 minutes will be required to follow the 5K route back to the finish to complete their run. You should aim to complete the race in 2 hours 35minutes or less. This is to be fair to our volunteers who are out around the course. The sweep car will follow the last runner after the 3 mile point. There is no time limit for the 5k or fun run.
There will be hot and cold drinks plus a large selection of home made cakes at the clubhouse by the track.
