Portland’s Maine Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay is a spectacular event. The course is beautifully scenic thanks to the trails, parks and waterfront of its popular Back Bay area, Runners in all three races follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes along the southern end of the Back Cove, the inner bay area near downtown Portland that’s a popular spot for running, walking and biking thanks to the paved trails that hug the shoreline virtually the entire way around.The marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and features a moderately hilly out-and-back course.

Course will run along the beautiful coast from which runners can see the Back Cove and have spectacular views of the ocean.
Parking will be available at the Campus Center lot, UMaine School of Law, the Fixture Designer Plumbing Showroom lot, the Back Cove lot, the AAA lot or the Turner Barker Insurance lot and the USM garage on the left. Please do not park in the Hannaford shopping center lot, which is reserved for store customers.
Baggage check available at start/finish area.
Water stops with Gatorade (lemon-lime Endurance Formula) located approximately every two miles. Each of the aid stations will be in contact with medical personnel so that runners may receive medical assistance if needed.
Post-race refreshments and massages will be available.
Professional photo service, PhotoChambers, will take photos of all finishers and make them available for purchase.
Finishers medal to all runners and certificate of completion to marathoners. Awards for the marathon and half marathon will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, the first male and female master (40+), the first male and female grand master (50+), the first male and female senior grand master (60+), and the first wheelchair, as determined by gun time. There are also male and female age-group awards, determined by net time. Awards also will be presented to the top three male, female and mixed relay teams, as well as the first-place masters team in each category. PRIZE MONEY -- Marathon - 1st M/F: $1,000. 2nd M/F: $500, 3rd M/F: $250. 1st Master M/F: $250, 1st Grand Master M/F: $250, 1st Sr. Grand Master M/F: $250. Half Marathon - 1st M/F: $500, 2nd M/F: $250, 3rd M/F: $150, 1st Master M/F: $150, 1st Grand Master M/F: $150, 1st Sr. Grand Master M/F: $150.
Race timing is provided by Bay State Race Services, using a ChronoTrack B-Tag system. This is a disposable chip system in which the timing tag is placed on the back of the bib.
