Glinting with glass, steel and concrete skyscrapers, Frankfurt-on-the-Main (pronounced ‘mine’) is unlike any other German city. The focal point of a conurbation of 5.5 million inhabitants, ‘Mainhattan’ is a high-powered finance and business hub, home to one of the world’s largest stock exchanges as well as the gleaming new headquarters of the European Central Bank. Frankfurt famously hosts some of the world's most important trade fairs, attracting thousands of business travellers. Its airport, the region’s biggest employer, is the third-largest in Europe, handling over 57 million passengers per year.Yet at its heart, Frankfurt is an unexpectedly traditional and charming city, with half-timbered buildings huddled in its quaint medieval Altstadt (old city), cosy apple wine taverns serving hearty regional food, village-like neighbourhoods filled with outdoor cafes, boutiques and street art, and beautiful parks, gardens and riverside paths. The city's cache of museums is second in Germany only to Berlin’s, and its nightlife and entertainment scenes are bolstered by a spirited student population. Franfurt am Main, home of the Franfurt Marathon.The Frankfurt Marathon (official name until 2010: Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon, as of 2011: BMW Frankfurt Marathon) is a marathon which has taken place every year in Frankfurt am Main since its inception in 1981. It is the longest-established city marathon in Germany and in terms of the number of finishers, Germany's second-largest. It is organised by the agency motion events.

The route can be run easily and quickly and has resulted in last year in new track records for both men and women - it has a total elevation gain of only 27.8 meters, spread over the entire route length of 42 195 meters. The route is set up circular and runs along both sides of the river Main. The first part of the route leads the runners through the city of Frankfurt with itsfascinating skyline, then to the district of Sachsenhausen, towards the residential area of Höchst and back along the Mainzer Landstrasse through the city center and the trade fair tower into the Festhalle with its red carpet.

Finishing on the red carpter of the "Festhalle" surely is the most spectacular highlight and rounds up the outstanding atmosphere at the Frankfurt Marathon. But as runners navigate through this scenic course they will encounter sites such as: The Messeturm, Polizeipräsidium, Mainzer Landstraße/Platz der Republik, Alte Oper, Hauptwache, Börse, Eschenheimer Turm, Börneplatz, Kennedy-Allee, Bolongaro Palast, Friedrich-Ebert-Siedlung, Galluswarte, Festhalle, Kaiserstraße/EZB-Bank, Baustelle, Frankfurt Hoch Vier, BleichstraßeAlte Brücke, Neubau Portikus and The Messehalle 3.

The stations at 5km and 10km are lined up on both sides; all other stations are one-sided only! Every 5km the order at each water station is as following: clock, medical aid, own nutrition, Rosbacher mineral water Naturell, Rosbacher IsoFit Orange, tea, troughs with water to dunk in your sponge, litter bins. Starting at 15km, we additionally off er organic bananas. At 20km, 25km, 30km and 35km taxofit Sport Power Liquid-Gels are off ered. At 30km, 35km and 40 km bizzl Cola is offered. Refreshments (Rosbacher mineral water Naturell and troughs with water) can also be found at 12.5km, 17.5km, 22.5km, 27.5km, 32,5 and 37.5k. Two Toilets can be found along the race track at the aid station at km 5 and km 10. Afterwards each 2,5 kilometres.
