The MS 24 Hour Mega Swim is a fun team relay event where teams have a swimmer in the water for the entire 24 hours and compete for laps swum and money raised, in support for people living with multiple sclerosis. It is one of Australias most popular and fastest-growing fundraising events, bringing communities together.People of all ages and abilities can take part in the MS 24 Hour Mega Swim with each team creating a roster to suit each swimmer. Some swim for 10 minutes, others for 4 hours! The MS 24 Hour Mega Swim is a competition with points awarded to each team; 1 point for every $10 raised (banked funds) and 1 point for every 500m swum.

If you would like more people in your team check with the MS Events Team to make sure it is possible for your event. If you have more than the maximum number of team members you’re still welcome to join in for fun, but you won’t be able to win the competition.Cost of setting up a team?There is no cost to enter a team – each member simply pays their own entry fee.Steps to organising a teamCreate a team – register as an individual first and then create a team to become Team Captain. You’ll need to have your team name ready to go!Invite others to join the team – post your team page link on Facebook and Twitter then email all your friends and colleagues asking them to join your team. Each member will need to register themselves for the event. As Team Captain, you need to fill the team with enough swimmers to keep going for 24 hours, so ask everyone you know to join in!Start fundraising – set a team goal and ask all team members to contribute, or hold a special fundraising event as a team. Keep team members up to date on how you are all going and who is raising the most. If you have the same friends or co-workers, ask sponsors to donate towards the team as a whole, rather than individual team members, by donating online via your team page.Swim – make sure your team are well-informed about the swim, know their roster and are ready for the big day!. Then you can all enjoy the experience of working together to swim for 24 hours for someone who can’t.Rules & SafetyNo fins, paddles snorkels or floatation devices are permitted ‐ unless approved by the Event Manager.To be eligible for team awards, one swimmer must be in the allocated lane throughout the 24 hour event.Participants under 18 years are to be supervised by parent or legal guardian at all timesGuardians of participants under 18 years of age provide written consent to participant when registering online or offline.The order, duration and number of times a team member swims are at the discretion of the team.Only one team member is to swim at a time ‐ with the exception of the MS team.Swimmers will be required to wear the official event swim cap provided upon registration.Good sportsman‐like conduct will be demanded of all competitors. Any unsportsmanlike conduct will be grounds for instant disqualification.Swimmers wishing to break an event record and or specific record must notify MS Australia and may be requested to provide an independent lap counter.Records are posted on the 24 Hour Mega Swim website.Swimmers wishing to swim for 24 hours must be approved by MS Australia as minimum fundraising amount applies. The minimum fundraising for individual swimmers is set at a minimum of $3,000. Fundraising total must be met one (1) month prior to the event start date. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to ensure sufficient support throughout the 24 Hours. Swimmers who do not have adequate support as deem by event officials maybe asked to leave the water.The 24 Hour Mega Swim is strictly a smoke, drug and alcohol free event.N.B. It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure their health and safety at the event. Qualified lifeguards will monitor the pool for the entire 24 hours.Use of floatation and training devicesThe use of floatation or training devices are not permitted unless approved by Multiple Sclerosis Limited.A floatation device by definition is but not limited to:Kick boardSwimming noodlePull buoyFlippersFloatiesPaddlesThe use of a floatation device will be granted to people living with MS automatically
