Overview
Since 2000, the Munich Marathon has been organised by runabout MÜNCHEN MARATHON GmbH (former medien marathon münchen GmbH). The traditional running event takes place every year, always one week after the Oktoberfest, and is one of Germany Top 5 marathon events. In Southern Germany, the Munich Marathon is the number one. Up to 20,000 runners participate every year. Anyone who has been at the start in Munich, one knows the bubbly mood. You can feel the tension and concentration of runners who departs after the starting signal. The sightseeing tour on the run begins: Olympia Park, English Garden, Bogenhausener Art Nouveau villas, Munich Gasteig, Isar Bridge, Gärtnerplatz, Sendlinger Strasse, Marienplatz, Rathaus, Bavarian State Opera, Residenz, Munich Pinakothek, Odeonsplatz, Theatinerkirche, Königsplatz, Siegestor, Leopoldstrasse.Countless highlights strung together before the Olympic stadium gets into sight. Goosebumps adjusts itself: In the large Marathon runners dive into a scenario of fog, music and colored light. In the last 300 meters and accompanied by the cheers of the audience turn to the finish line of the Olympic Stadium. G'schafft, as they say in Bavaria! And then? Please smile!Everyone's a winner!
Course details
From the new starting point "Coubertinplatz" in the Olympic Park from the marathon route runs through Schwabing, the English Garden, about Bogenhausen Berg am Laim and Haidhausen downtown. From there it goes back over Schwabing to the Olympic Park. The goal is the Olympic Stadium.

Olympiapark, Englischer Garten, Marienplatz, town hall, opera, Residenz, the Pinakotheken, the square Odeonsplatz, the Siegestor, the street Leopoldstraße, the district of Schwabing: It is hardly possible to imagine a more spectacular course for the marathon.
