Overview
The Panama City International Marathon is featured in Sportfilm's movie, "Marathons of the World," as one of the 26 top marathons in the world. It's also the world's 157th longest running marathon, and Central and South America's oldest marathon. The participation of elite, professional and even amateurs runners in the Panama City Marathon has contributed to the success of the event in previous years.
Course details
Our race begins at the parking lot of Miramar Hotel in Balboa Avenue.From there we advance and when we reach the BBVA Tower we cross and to the left and return using the Cinta Costera coastal walk, until we pass paralel to our departure point and continue forth, towards the East, until reaching the roundabout in Paitilla.We then return using Balboa Avenue towards the West, now passing again next to our departure point, and we continue paralel to the coast until we reach the Fish Market (Mercado del Marisco).Then we take the viaduct at Cinta Costera III, continuing towards Amador, and when we reach the Figali Convention Center we return again 180 degrees and go towards the old YMCA Building, and then the Banco Nacional at Balboa.Afterwards we take the Ascanio Villalaz Avenue towards the Albrook airport, and then follow in a direction paralel to the Panama Canal crossing places such as Los Ríos, Cárdenas, Clayton, Miraflores, until we reach the entrance of the Maintenance Site for Pedro Miguel locks at the Panama Canal.Then we return again towards Albrook, and we pass next to the DIJ Police Building, and then we go round and up the upper lane towards the Fish Market again, and from there towards Miramar Hotel until reaching the finish line.
What's included
Panama has attractions similar to Costa Rica--rainforests, volcanoes, and snorkeling. Panama City is the only metropolis that has a rainforest within the city limits,and hikers at the summit of Volcan Baru can often see both oceans at the same time on a clear day.
Runners shall find a water point for hydration (water, Powerade) approximately every 3 Km. during the first part of the race, and every 2 Km in the last part. There shall be toilets available approximately every 5 Km., at the transition points for the relay runners.

A maximum time limit of 8 hours is allowed. The race ends at 1:00 pm.
