The Perkins Great Eastern Run in Peterborough is growing in reputation. It's one of the fastest growing half marathons in the country and each year the race attracted record participants against a backdrop of several races reporting a decrease in entry numbers or static take-up at best. The Perkins Great Eastern Run is a running event that takes place every year in Peterborough, United Kingdom, generally in mid-October. The event returned in 2006 after a 10-year absence and is rapidly gaining popularity. Currently, there are three races in the whole event: Half Marathon - A 21.0975-kilometre (13.1094 mi) race which winds its way through the city's streetsDespite its name, the Great Eastern Run is not a part of the Great Run series of events, which includes the Great North Run. This year's Perkins Great Eastern Run route is the same as in 2012 following feedback from runners and key organising partners. The new route gives people better spectator views as well as runners a chance to improve on their previous personal best times. It was also the first time the Perkins Great Eastern Run started and finished on the Embankment (previously started on Long Causeway).

The route takes runners through a section of the city centre, which is unusual for a half marathon and is one of the unique aspects of the course.

Secure baggage storage and toilet facilities are also located on site. Baggage labels and your bib / chip timer will be sent out with your race pack before the race.
Runners will be met by stewards at the finish line who will guide you to where you can collect bottled water, your medal, technical t-shirt, goody bag and refreshments. They will direct you to the baggage collection area. Friends and family will be waiting for you outside the compound. Facilities at the finish area compound also include a changing marquee.
Every half marathon runner is awarded a reusable bag with a Ron Hill technical t-shirt, a special commemorated medal and other running goodies. Prizes are awarded on gun times.
The chip timing mechanism is attached to the back of your bib. Your bib must be clearly visible on the front of your running vest / t-shirt. Your bib must not be altered in any way or covered by clothing or tri belt. Please do not bend, twist or fold your bib. Please also ensure when crossing the finish line that nothing interferes with the view of your race bib.
