The 7th annual Run Forrest 10km & 21km & 6km Trail Run offers runners the most picturesque trails in Australia.Once again the 2019 Run Forrest will include the very popular 6km Kids Run circuit.Staged in the hinterland township of Forrest, nestled in the heart of the Otway Ranges, Run Forrest will showcase the regions world-class trails and breathtaking natural beauty undulating hills, flowing rivers, dense fern gullies and the cool, fresh air of the Otway Ranges.So get training!!

What's included

21kmThe 21km course will start at the Run Forrest Race Village situated on the banks of the Barwon River (access from Hennigan Crescent Forrest – trail walk – no parking at Village).The trail run will follow the Barwon River along the famous Red Carpet to Lake Elizabeth. The Red Carpet is a favourite amongst mountain bikers for its dynamic technical sections, fern covered single track and fast downhill corners.Now we get a chance to run it…..Run Forrest also gives trail runners access to the beautiful fern banks surrounding the majestic Lake Elizabeth.The course is tough with tight, off cambered turns, fast down hills and undulating with plenty of flow.The course is a circuit ending at the race village on the banks of the Barwon River.10kmThe 10km course will start at the Run Forrest Race Village situated on the banks of the Barwon River (access from Hennigan Crescent Forrest – trail walk – no parking at Village).The 10km course will be just as much fun as the 21km but with a turnaround at the top of the Red Carpet. This offers its own unique challenges.What a course!…..pure running pleasureThe course is a circuit ending at the race village on the banks of the Barwon River.6kmThe 6km course & the Kids 6km course is the first half of the 10km course. This is a great little circuit course along the Barwon River to Fernery Trail, across the top of the West Barwon Dam to the water course.  Down the big hill and back to the village.

Number plates will not be posted to competitors prior to the race.PrizesTBCNOTE: If you are not able to collect your prize at the event presentations, you are required to email Southern Exposure before Friday 14th June 2019 to claim your prize. Prizes will be forfeited after this date.  Shipping fee’s at your expense.Otway Soup FestivalRun Forrest coincides with the 13th Otway Soup Festival which will also be held on Sunday 9th June from 10am at the Forrest Football Oval. The festival features homemade soups, conserves, pickles, relishes, homebrew beers and wines and a wide range of free family entertainment including an farm animal nursery, giant veggie competition, a jumping castle and local crafts and fresh market stalls.Forrest FacilitiesFuel is not available in Forrest – the closest petrol station is 35 minute away in Colac or 45km in Apollo BayCash out is not available in Forrest – the closest ATM is 35 minute away in Colac (Bring CASH)Forrest General Store has some basic/specialty provisions – Do the bulk of your camp shopping before you come as limits stock is avail (tinned food, pasta etc no fresh food)

Where is Forrest?Forrest is located approximately 1 hour from the regional City of Geelong, 2 hours drive from Melbourne and a short distance to the Great Ocean Road townships of Torquay (55 minutes), Lorne (50 minutes) and Apollo Bay (40 minutes).It’s an easy and very picturesque drive to Forrest and there’s plenty to see and do on the way. Take your time, enjoy the drive and soak up the scenery.Event ParkingParking is not available at the Race Village or in any locations around the event course. Access to the Race Village is strictly via pedestrian access only. There are several areas surrounding the event that provide suitable on street parking options in town.Please do not park across driveways.Once you have parked follow the signs to the village via Hennigan Crescent.Where is the Race Village?The Race Village is located on the banks of the Barwon River, just outside the township of Forrest (approx 10min walk to the Forrest Brewery & Soup Festival). The Race Village is only a short walk from the township of Forrest. Use Hennigan Crescent to access the Race Village.Directions from the main township to the race village will be well signed.The Race Village will be strictly closed to all public vehicles. Public vehicles will not be permitted access to the Race Village.

What do I need to do once I have entered online?Once you have entered on line via the ‘enter online’ page you will receive an email confirming your entry. You do not need to do anything further until the day of the event. On the day of the event you are required to register yourself and collect your race bib from the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village between 7.30am – 9am.Will I receive my race number before the event?No!!! Race numbers will not be sent to you prior to the race. You will be provided with your race number when you register on the day of the event at the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village. Registration opens at 7.30am and closes at 9am.Will the course be distance marked?Key distance markers and turn arounds will be placed around the course.Will the course be marshalled?Marshall’s and Traffic Controllers  will be positioned at various locations around the course.  A motorcyclist will patrol the course for first aid support, evacuation and trail sweep.Do I need to carry my own water?It is encouraged that you carry your own water to ensure you remain hydrated around the course. Drink stations will be positioned at the 5.5km and 17km and in Lake Elizabeth Carpark the 21km course and at the 6km mark of the 10km course. A drink/fruit station will also be located at the Race Village near the start/finish line.Will there be toilet facilities on site?Portable public toilets will be available on site at the Race Village.  Keep in mind that everyone will need the toilet at the same time.Is the event time recorded?All competitors who complete the full course (21km, 10km & 6km events) will receive an official timing. Those who do not complete the course will be classified as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), with no times recorded.  Official event results will be posted on www.runforest.com.au after the event.Is there a time limit?The event course will officially close at 2.30pm. Those who have not completed the course by this time will be classified as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), with no times recorded.  Village will be dismantled and packed up from 12.30pm.  Please do not be offended if you finish after 12.30pm and village has been packed up.Will I receive an official event t-shirt?There will be an official event t-shirt available for sale online when you enter ($35) or at the Race Village ($45) on the day of the event. Prices are TBC.
