Overview
Give yourself the best holiday gift ever this year by completing the San Diego Holiday Half Marathon just days before Christmas — come to beautiful San Diego for the beautiful weather and stay for a PR-worthy course. With the exception of a fairly big hill in the first mile, just about all of the rest of the race is downhill running at this race, which unfolds between Rancho Penasquitos and Torrey Pines State Beach. The San Diego Holiday Half Marathon is the same fast 13.1 mile course that now starts on Penasquitos Drive at the NEW START LINE in front of the Doubletree Golf Resort then travels SW along Carmel Mountain Rd (your only ‘real’ hill at mile 1.5), along the 56 bike path and finishes at the beautiful Torrey Pines State Beach. The race includes a 711-foot net elevation drop along the rolling downhill bike path, which also makes it a personal best candidate. This popular winter half has been a sell out event every year and sure to sell out this year.

What's included
This is a point-to-point race. Runners will be bused from Torrey Pines State Beach east parking lot to Rancho Penasquitos either pre or post race. Race begins in Rancho Penasquitos and heads South on Carmel Mountain Rd. The only real major hill is in the beginning (mile 1.5)…piece of cake! Then all runners travel 9 miles down the 56 Bike Path enjoying spectacular views and a gentle rolling downhill course. Last 4 miles are relatively flat with gentle rollers as you head towards the finish on Carmel Valley Rd to Torrey Pines State Beach. This course could be a potential PR!
The race is on a beautiful course from Rancho Penasquitos down the 56 bike path to the San Diego coastline at Torrey Pines State Beach.
