What's included
A race that quite literally lives up to its name, the Santa To The Sea Half Marathon takes runners on a winding tour of Oxnard’s city streets, along a point-to-point course that starts at the giant Santa holiday display in Nye Park on the northeastern edge of the city and takes runners through its streets and neighborhoods all the way to the Channel Islands Harbor.Once runners make it to the finish line, they’ll get to take in a view that looks out onto the waters of the Pacific Ocean in the distance, where just offshore lie the islands that make up Channel Islands National Park.Described by the race organizers as a race that’s mostly flat and fast, the course for the Santa to the Sea Half features no significant uphill stretches to speak of, save for a brief uphill in the last three miles of the race, as runners are making their way between mile markers 10 and 11.After a gradual downhill for the first mile or two, followed by a gradual uphill between miles 3 and 4, the rest of the course features a long, gradual downhill, especially between mile markers 4 and 10, followed by a flat last mile into the finish line at the Marine Emporium Landing on South Harbor Boulevard.
