A major event in the UK's running calendar, the Sheffield Half Marathon attracts thousands of runners of all abilities and spectators to the city's streets and raises many thousands of pounds for good causes.With a city centre start and finish, the event boasts a super scenic route with stunning views of the Peak District for those who conquer the climb to Ringinglow.The race even incorporates a 'triple test' giving entrants a chance to be crowned 'King of the Hill' or 'Queen of the Hill' in a timed hill climb, triumph in a 10K downhill sprint section and cross the finish line first to lift the Sheffield Half Marathon title.

Course details

With a city centre start and finish, the crowds will be out in force to create a super atmosphere and provide lots of enthusiastic support for all those taking part.Passing through the finish near the Town Hall you’ll collect water and an energy drink to replenish and rehydrate, and your finisher’s goody bag with a medal and t-shirt to showcase your achievement.The event hub will be buzzing with lots of post-race facilities, including the Charity Village where you can learn all about the vital work done by the event’s partner charities.The area’s variety of bars, cafes and restaurants make it a great place to celebrate your achievement with family and friends.

What's included

Your race number will be posted to the address that you entered when you registered for the event. Race numbers will start to be posted to your registered address from around 7 -10 days prior to the event. Looking for a challenge? Our Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon’s demanding terrain will provide you with just that! Don’t worry it’s well worth your hard work. The course rewards you with spectacular views of the Peak District and various City landmarks.Starting on Arundel Gate, in the heart of the City Centre, runners are instantly hit with the euphoria that surrounds this fantastic event. Runners then travel down the much loved ‘Eccy’ Road and take in its selection of bars, restaurants and independent shops.From there on, they are treated to picturesque views of the Peak District, passing Encliffe Park and Sheffield Tigers Rugby Club. Those views are then left behind as the course heads downhill to the outskirts of Dore and back to ‘Eccy’ Road. Eventually reentering the City Centre, runners finish in front of the Town Hall and an adoring crowd!Naturally, to take advantage of the best of the Peak District’s incredible views, there will be an uphill ‘King of the Hill’ section.

Travelling By Car Sheffield is well served by major roads and motorways. It sits next to the M1 and both the M18 and A1 are nearby.From the North (Using M1)M1 Southbound and take Junction 36 onto the A61 towards Sheffield City Centre.From the SouthApproach Sheffield from the South on the A61 and continue on the A61 towards the City Centre. Follow signs for the train station or alternatively head towards St Mary’s Gate roundabout.From the WestOn the A57, head in an easterly direction towards the City Centre. Cross the A61 on to to Broad Lane.From the East and NorthExit the M18 at junction 32 and briefly join the M1 towards Sheffield. Take the A630 and then the A57.
