Now in its 10th year, this is the premier Winter Duathlon Series to take part in. These events are perfect for anyone looking to get fit or take part in their first event. Dorney Lake is the perfect venue for Duathlon Events.100% accurate course and 100% traffic free. A fast and fun race. Perfect winter conditioning. This fun and exciting Duathlon Series will put you on good form for the coming season!There are 3 different disciplines available:Super Sprint Duathlon - 2.5km Run/ 12km Bike/ 2.5km Run Sprint Duathlon - 5km Run/ 20km Bike/ 5km RunStandard Duathlon - 10km Run/ 40km Bike/ 5km RunRelay teams must consist of THREE participants - one for each leg.
Course details
The event location is one of the most iconic 2012 London Olympic Games venues, which hosted the rowing and canoe disciplines. The course takes place on 100% traffic free roads and paths....very flat and very safe!First Run CourseThe run will start next to the main registration marquee and will be an out and back course, as illustrated on the map. The Super Sprint Duathlon run will be a single out and back run course, totalling 2.5km. The Spring Duathlon run will be a 2 out and back laps totalling 5km and the Standard Duathlon run will be 4 out and back laps totalling 10km. On completion of the relevant running course proceed into the RUN IN entrance of the transition area. Bike CourseYour helmet must be on your head and fastened up before you touch your bike. You must then push your bike to the bike out exit. You can then mount your bike once you have crossed the mount line (marked with tape on the road and signed) and ride onto the bike course. Please be aware that they may already be cyclists out on the course lapping round as you join the route.The bike course is made up of approx. 5km laps up and down the side of the lake. Super Sprint Duathlon will complete 2 laps (10km total) and the Sprint Duathlon will complete 4 laps (20km total). The Standard Duathlon will complete 8 laps (approx. 40km total). It is your responsibility to count the number of laps you have ridden. It is appreciated that counting to 2, 4 or 8 is a considerable task when racing. We will have some signage at the end of each lap to remind you how many full laps you have to ride so that you can mentally tick off the distances as your race progresses.On completion of the correct number of laps follow the transition in signs to return your bike and collect your running kit. Ensure that you dismount well before the dismount line (marked on the road) and keep your helmet on and fastened until you have racked your bike in the correct place.Final Run CourseLeave transition by the run out exit and join the running course.The Super Sprint Duathlon will be a single out and back run course, totalling 2.5km. The Sprint distance will be 2 out and back laps totalling 5km. The Standard Duathlon final run will also be 2 out and back laps totalling 5km, on completion of the relevant running course proceed into the finishing straight and celebrate completing the event.Please remember to hand your timing chip in (if you have one and we are using chip timing) before collecting drinks and refreshment after crossing the line. Failure to hand in your timing chip will result in a £10 surcharge to cover the replacement of the chip.
What's included
07.30am - Site opens to competitors (do not arrive before this time)07.30am - Registration opens at the main registration marquee (as you enter the lake on the right had side). You will then receive:- Bib number: to be worn on the front when you are running and back when you are biking. It is recommended to wear an elastic race belt.- Depending on the number of competitions, you may be asked to have your event number written on your hand. Staff to write your number in permanent market that washes off skin. - Bike number: to be stuck on your bike seat post.- Helmet number: to be stuck on the front of your helmet. - Timing chip: this is supplied with a velcro band to secure to your ankle NOT your wrist!Once you have registered for the event, please make your way to the transition area. Just show your corresponding event number and bike sticker to the security staff (also needed to exit transition). Bike racking space is on a first come first served basis. Please make sure you keep your allocated area tidy and free from any trip hazards to other competitors. Address: Eton College, Rowing Centre, Dorney Lake, Windsor, SL4 6QPDorney Lake, Eton College Rowing Centre is conveniently located along the M4 Motorway, only 20 mins from London and 15 mins from the M25 and M40 motorways.The event will have full car parking facilities available, which will be in operation to allow participants to come and go!On arrival to the site, a F3 Marshall will meet you at the front gate. They will direct you on to the main access road. Race registration and transition area area only 50km walk from the car park. A perfect distance for warming up those running legs! Once you are parked up, make your way to the event registration marquee. You will need to bring all your race kit with you, as you will be racking your bike immediately after registration!
With the race set at the scenic Dorney Lake, it's the perfect place for spectators and family to attend and soak up the atmosphere! Food and drinks will also be available through the catering facilities, plus fun and games for kids of all ages!
