Take on the UKs most iconic ultra; 69 stunning miles through the historic Hadrians wall country in a continuous fully supported and way marked adventure.Your journey will take you from Carlisle Castle to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge over a mixed-terrain route that incorporates both on and off-road sections. There are 69 miles to be conquered in just one day. The Wall awaits.THE ATMOSPHERE IS ELECTRIC, THE SUPPORT IS AMAZING, THE SCENERY IS BEAUTIFUL, THE CAMARADERIE IS AWESOME A TRUE TEST OF YOURSELF!
Mandatory KitRunning shoes (or walking boots). Road running shoes will suffice if conditions have been reasonably dry.Hydration bladder and/or water bottle – minimum 1000ml capacity (this may be increased if the forecast is hot and dry).Basic First Aid Kit containing at least:a triangular or conformable roller bandage,assorted adhesive dressings including at least one 100mm x 100mmseparate sterile absorbent material (eg gauze or gauze bandage).Spare Food minimum of 100kcals of nutrition to be carried at all timesWater/Fluids – participants may not leave a pit stop carrying less than 1000ml (this may be increased if the forecast is hot and dry)Full windproof/showerproof body coverSurvival bag or blanketWhistleFully charged mobile phone, Money (around £10), Event Organisers Course & Medical Contact Numbers – These will be provided to you at registration within the printed Essential Event Information Document.You must carry the additional items below on departure of the Cawfields Pit Stop, in preparation of the dark zone:HeadtorchRear red light, or reflective patch (min 10cm x 2cm or equivalent area).Spare headtorch batteries or back-up light sourceRecommended KitSmall Rucksack or BumBagHeadgear (sun, wind and rain)Gloves (good for if you stop and cool)Additional upper body thermal layerWaterproof layersSunscreen (hopefully)SunglassesBlister treatment kitSome form of identificationIn order to ensure everyone can look after themselves in this physically (and mentally) challenging event, and to allow this event to be fair and competitive, all participants must personally carry all items of Mandatory Kit at all times during the event. On request of an Event Official, participants will be required to produce any or all items of the Mandatory Kit List.
How old do I need to be to compete on the Wall?Rat Race require participants to be 18+What facilities are at the start/finish?The start is in Carlisle Castle where you will register. This is in Carlisle city centre near a variety of shops, there are toilets available on the morning of the race and the Rat Race store will be at registration for any missing essentials. The finish will be at Baltic Quay where there will be refreshments, toilets, medics, bar and dwell area for yourself and participants. Your bag will also be transported here and the finish is manned throughout the night.Is this a trail run?This is a mixed terrain event and features trail (20%) and road (80%)
