Vietnam Mountain Marathon

Overview
Welcome to the hardest run in Vietnam! VMM is Unique trail running of 10km, 15km, 21km, 42km, 70km or 100km in a spectacular mountain region of north Vietnam.Join around 3,500 like minded mountain runners and enjoy views of magnificent golden rice fields in harvest season. Share trails with water buffalo and ethnic minority groups. Small dirt roads and narrow trails will take you through the majestic mountains and valleys usually accessed by locals only.Each route will encompass challenging climbs, exhilarating descents and a true glimpse of local life in ethnic minority villages.With gain from around 600m (10km) to 4,500m (100km), this in an extremely challenging mountain run event.
Course details
Participate in this year’s biggest public run in Sapa and race against the local Black Hmong, Red Dao and Tay minorities. Maybe you watched your friends and families run the Mountain Marathon on Saturday and now want to show them how to run 10km! Or maybe you just cannot get enough competition and want to combine a Saturday run of 21km, 42km, 70km or 100km with a 10km run.Look out as the local runners are eager to compete with the international competitors! The route starts from central Sapa Town and then heads down the main street, passes the local minority market and soon you are out of town. Now run 2.5km down the valley on paved road and drop into the famous Hoang Lien National Park and its beautiful scenery with rice fields, rivers and trails beaten by buffaloes.
What's included
Save some energy for the final challenge… a climb of 500m just before the finish! It is hard, but beautiful! VMM provide 2 checkpoints with water & bananas.
Vietnam Mountain Marathon is the result of a lifelong love of running and a fascination with Vietnam. Our beautiful route will take you through the inspiring mountain range of Hoang Lien National Park and its remote valleys near Sapa that are usually closed territory to all but the few.
Only 100km runners may do this. You can put a drop bag at checkpoint 103. Simply bring it to the race start with your name tag on it. Bring one bag only – this will also be at the finish area waiting for you.
Every checkpoint has water. You must prepare your own water bottles or camelbak. You should carry your own favourite electrolyte powder.
No cut-off time for 10km & 15km. For longer distance, yes, we have cut off times at checkpoints. Details are available at our website for 21km, 42km, 70km, and 100km.
We provide bus transfer for all runners from meeting point in Sapa to the start line for each distance. This is included in your race fee. Buses DO NOT wait for late runners. The bus departure time for each race distance is announced HERE and included in the race program. We also provide buses for runners from the finish area back to Sapa.
Every checkpoint has bananas plus one other type of fruit. Checkpoint 4 also has hot veggie soup and also noodles for the 70km and 100km runners.
